Map Innovation Types
Not all ideas are created equal. Some improve what exists, some create something new, and some change how you work entirely. If you treat them all the same, the process breaks.
Start by looking at what you’ve got to identify gaps. Too many small fixes? Push for more ambitious ideas. Too many big bets? Strengthen your pipeline with faster, lower-risk improvements.
Label ideas clearly—like “Process Improvement,” “New Offering,” or “Strategic Bet”, so people know how their idea will be handled.
To guide the process, check out frameworks like the Innovation Ambition Matrix, 3 Horizons or Doblin’s 10 Types of Innovation.
