Embed into Daily Work
If innovation is always a side project, it’ll stay small. At some point, you have to make it part of the day-to-day. That doesn’t mean everyone stops what they’re doing to dream up ideas. It means people start seeing problems — and improvements — as part of their job.
Start by making idea collection part of other routines: retro meetings, onboarding, team reviews, customer feedback loops. You’re not adding new work. You’re giving people a place to put what they’re already noticing.
For example, add a standing “Any ideas?” moment to the end of a weekly team meeting. Or hook your idea form into Slack so it takes 30 seconds to submit. If it takes too much time or feels like a distraction, it won’t scale. If it feels like part of the job, it will.
